A Membership Drive in the Park
THE LAMBETH Country Show is held each year in Brockwell Park, London. It grew our of the original Lambeth Arts and Recreations Association's Flower Show, which started in the 1970's and has outlasted the Association. It is held over a weekend in late July. The Show is designed to show inner city dwellers both what country life is about and what leisure activities are available in the Borough of Lambeth. The Theatre has attended on and off since the beginning and this year we had our biggest stand for years.
Now a word from our Chairman.
A big thank you to all those who helped make our presence at the Lambeth Country Show possible again this year.
We had a great many helpers, many of whom stayed for much longer than they had been allocated, and some of whom even braved the rain on the Sunday which, combined with an official who decided not to let us out of the car park, nearly caused a riot in the evening! Having been down in the members bar the first Wednesday following the Country Show, I can also vouch for the fact that all the hard work is well worth it - Jess signed up 11 new members in one night! Thanks again. Helen Chadney.
