1982

THE Kaleidoscope season (a show every weekend for five weeks) opened from 10th - 13th with "From Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill" directed by Bruce Murray . It continued from 17th - 20th with "The Bespoke Overcoat" by Wolff Mankowicz directed by John Hartnett and "The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacobs directed by Charlie Cheetham. The visiting production, the following weekend, by the Piccolo Teatro had been cancelled by them at short notice.

Bob Marshall, Members' Club Chairman, apologised for the loud music that had offended some members visiting the bar and assured them this would not be repeated without giving notice in SCENE.

1987

"SOME summertime Folk" presented an evening of music and comedy in the bar on 6th.

Auditions were advertised on 9th & 11th for "Pack of Lies" by Hugh Whitmore to be directed by Charlie Cheetham in the Bell Theatre in November. Also on 23rd & 25th for "Alfie" by Bill Naughton, to be directed by Keefe Browning in Prompt Corner in September.

The Nightingale Theatre Company presented "The Cagebirds" by David Campton and "The Form" by N.F.Simpson in Prompt Corner from 12th - 14th.

The main production of the month was also in Prompt Corner, from 19th - 21st. It was a double bill of "God" & "Death" by Woody Allen with Anne Curtis, Ian CGLencross, Debbie Kane, John Kidd, Matthew Lyne, Neil Matthews, Pip Piacentino, Bernard Witt, Malcolm Woodmad, Louise Gilbert, Venessa Kelsey, Judith Lawson and Mike Waite.

There was a Midsummer Sporting Chance Party, no need to change after a summer run or game of tennis come along in your sports gear.

1992

THE Bell Theatre show from 2nd - 6th Was "The Lady's Not For Burning" by Christopher Fry. Directed by Alan Buckman this comedy featured John Lyne, Leslie & Ruth Lidyard, Dennis Packham, Eileen Coan, Lisa Tobin, Barry Mawer, Simon Phillips and Philip Bowles.

The Prompt Corner Show from 19th - 21st was "The One-sided Wall" by Janet Cresswell & Niki Johnson. This was directed by Annie Briody and featured Anita Burke, Katherine Holmes, Emma Kilby and Robert Silver.

Due to postponement from April "Stags and Hens" was reauditioning on 4th.

On 6th we presented "Creditors" by August Strinndberg at the NATHDA Festival. This was directed by Pip Piacentino and featured Helen Chadney, Robert Silver, Greg davies, Frances Walker, Melanie Deborca and Colin Starkey.

The whole theatre was involved with "The 48hr Theatre Mania Marathon" from 8pm Friday 12th to 8pm Sunday 14th. An evenig of Irish Session Music in the bar was planned to boost our spirits on 13th but was put as subject to confirmation(I can't remember it myself).

The month ended with a "Star Spotters Quiz" in the bar on 26th

1997

The month started with a show and auditions. From 3rd - 7th the Bell Theatre presented "Daisy Pulls it Off" by Denise Deegan, directed by Keefe Browning. This featured Pam Jarvis, Jo Adams, Trudi Kent, Peter & Polly March, Renee Haoust, Penny Butler, Magda Morton, Melanie Green, Maggie Cearns, Maxine Canham, Fiona Daffern and Lionel Monks. The auditions on 3rd & 5th were for "The Killing of Sister George" to be directed in the Bell Theatre in November by Juliet Male. An early auditoionwas held by John Anderson on 8th for the title role of Hedda Gabler, the rest of the cast auditioned in July.

The Prompt Corner show was "Round and Round the Garden" by Alan Ayckbourne from 12th - 15th. This was directed by Malcolm Woodman with Matthew Blackstaffe, Shannen Ludden, Steve Ellis, Pat Mill and Philip and Margaret Blurton.

The diary page indicated auditions for the September Bell Theatre show, but as the director (who I don't want to mention) hadn't bothered to put in any details no other information was available. (He ceased membership before then anyway).
