Andrew Rickinson is standing down as Social Administrator, as he is going to do other things around the Bar, by the time you get this (well as this is the internet it will be after you get this Ed.) , there will be someone new at the Social helm - but who will it be? (However, the Social Committee looks as if it will stay pretty much the same - if anyone is particularly interested in getting involved in the social committee, please let us know).

That's the official bit over. Here is a precis of what happened in April, and a quick view of May and June's events:

In April we were treated to a Quiz from Brian Fretwell. Helen Chadney, Matthew Lyne, and Alan Buckman were clearly in tune with Brian's thought processes, because they won. Jack King tried to jump in front of a train on the way home (or at least that's my interpretation of events).

The Casino night was a great success, and we raised lots of money. The first half was won by Will Howard, who won a botle of spirits, and the second half was won by Lisa Marsh, who won a similar, but different bottle of spirits. All other prizes were bottles of quite revolting Peppermint Cordial, which we've been trying to get rid of for ages.

On May 4th, we had an impromptu entertainment hosted by Stuey D. The fun included a game of Just a Minute (won by Jack King, having recovered from West Norwood Station), and a wonderful game of call my Bluff, excellently written, and ably hosted by Alan Buckman. There was also a smattering of outrageous sketches from Stuey (he can be quite funny, when he puts his mind to it). We rewarded Stuey's hard work and showed appreciation of his song about our Charwoman's Beaver by giving him the last bottle of revolting Pepperming Cordial. Oh! And we gave away free cheese to the audience, and they seemed to like that, too.

Future events

May 25th - Quiz night, hosted by Jeanette Hoyle, ably assisted by Pat Laban. All the usual rules apply, please try to get there on time!

June 1st - Party night - In celebration of Brian's 50th Birthday, and also a jolly good reason to have a good old knees up and a few drinks.

June 22nd - Quiz Night - hosted by Andrew Rickinson (only four days after his birthday)

June 29th - return of My Top Tune, bring along your favourite piece of music (not a whole symphony, though) , and play it to us. You can even tell us why you like it, if you want.

That's it. Many thanks to all those who have helped us all have a jolly time over the past year.

Lots of Love and Kisses

Andrew, Fiona, Lionel, Lisa and Liz
