Sorry to mess everyone around. The dates for the "Shakespeare Workshop" are now:-
Saturdays 22nd and 29th June 1 - 3pm Prompt Corner
Giles Block, who is facilitating the sessions, is "Master of the Words" at the Globe Theatre where he has worked for the past four years. During that time he has directed "Anthony & Cleopatra" and "Hamlett" and overseen the text work for productions of "Julius Caesar", "King Lear" "Macbeth", "Cymbeline" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream". He has also directed Shakespeare plays overseas; held Shakespeare text and acting classes in the USA and Japan, as well as the Royal National theatre and numerous drama schools.
He will bring texts for us to explore and discuss and suggests that we use the first session mostly for this purpose, then the second to focus on the performing side.
For those who don't feel ready to beard the Bard - he is happy for observers to come along.
As usual put your name on the list in the Members' Club. Fees:- Observers £2 per session, participants £4 per session.
Yes, it is happening (subject to final confirmation) and this is the date, time and place - very sorry for the previous hassle.
Those of you who put your names down before, I hope you can make the new date - anyone else who is interested please put your name down on the list on the noticeboard in the Members' Club Bar.
At present the classes are divided into three age ranges: 5 - 7 year-olds, 7 - 9 year-olds and 10 - 13 year-olds. The classes are held on Sunday mornings between 10am and noon. The younger groups are for an hour each, with a short break between.
This is very rewarding work and great fun (ask Liam!) and there is some pecuniary benefit for the teachers. There will also be invaluable support from Kat and myself, and I will continue to undertake the banking and paperwork. there is a lot of support for our Youth Classes and we aim to achieve a high profile on the business plan for the Theatre Centre and its attainment of future funding. Anyone interested or who knows of anyone who may be interested, please let me know.
